Zach Loggins has his Eagle Scout project this coming Saturday, March 20th collecting personal care products for distribution by The Idaho Foodbank. If you have any items you’d like to donate, he’ll have volunteers from 10am to 2pm at the following Boise locations:

• Fred Meyer – Five Mile and Overland Road
• Albertsons – Fairview and Cole Road
• Fred Meyer – Federal Way
• Fred Meyer – Orchard and Franklin Road
• Pauls – Lake Hazel and Five Mile Road

Extra Glucose Monitors??

Did you get the Glucose Meters at Walgreens and need someone to donate them too? Reader Christy found someone who could use them! Read on for details...

I have been couponing and using your site for a while and love it...I know a lot of times you guys talk about donating to people and I did the monitors at Walgreens and today gave them to a single mom that has an 11 year old with diabetes...she was shocked that they were free(moneymaker)! She was so blessed by getting them and said that they have to test daughters blood about 5 times a day which means one box will only last 2 days...I was wondering if you know of anyone that doesn't have anything to do with the boxes they got and would be willing to donate them or if they didn't do the deal and have coupons they are willing to let me use to get more boxes for her...

Help for Haiti

This is a picture of a mother and her 4-day-old daughter, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, days after the earthquake. This mother went into labor during the earth quake.

I am sure many of your hearts
and prayers are going out to
those affected by the earthquake in Haiti.

There are hundreds of organizations collecting donations and helping with the cause. Churches are always involved in these types of efforts.

My friend Ellen was telling me all about the efforts of the LDS Church here. Although much has been done, there is still in a great need. Church leaders are encouraging members to donate. You can donate HERE.


If you have ever taken our coupon class, you have heard us say that this is one of the reasons we coupon, "to be able to give to others easily with out creating a financial burden."

When our reader Kristina told us about the hygiene kits they are putting together I was super excited. I have lots of Shampoo and Conditioner that I got at Albertsons as a filler to do the diaper deal. Toothbrushes, I certainly have a few extra of those, and finger nail clippers are a great filler item for those of you doing RR deals at Walgreens this week.

Scouting for Food THIS SATURDAY!

If you have been couponing for a while you are probably starting to have a very nice stockpile. Well here is a great opportunity to share the coupon love with others!

Tonight put a bag or two of non-perishable food items together and place them on your door step. Tomorrow morning one of your local scouts will come and pick up the food. 8 am- 12pm.

If you did not get a flyer on your door for scouting for food or no one comes to pick it up you can still drop it off food at these locations.

Support the Local Valley Crisis Center with your surplus!

This just in from reader Elaine...

The Valley Crisis Center provides a safe place for women and children from physical and sexual abuse. The government has cut costs. They now only receive $100,000/year (compared to the $300,000 that they received five years ago).

They are in need of of meat, cleaning supplies, paper/bathroom items and over the counter medication. What a perfect time for your followers to clean out their surplus. Items can be taken on Saturday (the 14th) to Albertsons on 12th & Greenhurst.

If you recall, when we had our Pay it Forward Yard Sale, one of those who benefited from all the earnings was a local Kuna man, Jason Wolfkiel. But our little donation was just a drop in the bucket.


Jason is a 31 year old Kuna native who has been battling Familial Melanoma for 4 years. Sadly, all of the treatments thus far have yielded little results, and the cancer is back with a vengeance. His only option at this point is a treatment made available in Pennsylvania. It is an Immune System Therapy called Anti-CTLA. It requires a payment of $45,000 up front. Because of Jason's condition and subsequent treatments, he has been unable to work. His wife has gone back to work to support their 3 young children, but makes nowhere near enough to cover the cost.

So head over to Kuna High School THIS Friday night... eat some FAB FOOD (starting at 5:30), enjoy some rockin Bluegrass, bid on auction items and let your kids have fun at the carnival (starting at 7:00).

Blown Away

90 minutes. That's all it took for me to choke up. Our FabuLESS Pay it Forward Garage Sale opened for business at 8am, and by 9:30 we had earned enough to buy Crissie her bike. You read that right: an hour and a half. I counted the money, then sat back and looked around.

There was a reader whom we had never met before Thursday furiously arranging kids clothes just so on the tables. Another two manning the bake sale. Still another helping an elderly woman sift through items. Those readers were scattered among tens of thousands of donated items, surrounded by a steady stream of shoppers. I paused for a second to take it all in. And my throat got a little tight.

I was an English major in college but I cannot find an adjective that adequately describes what I experienced today. I was reminded that people are inherently good, as complete strangers gave up hour upon hour of their lives to help a woman and a family they had never met. I was overwhelmed by your support as I returned home day after day to find my driveway packed with new donations. I was humbled by your generosity as you paid $100 for a loaf of bread. I was amazed at your willingness to serve as you rubbed your sleepy eyes, perhaps cursing us under your breath for our 5am start time (although, come to think of it, I never heard a negative word uttered).

You, our selfless reader, made this silly little dream a reality. And not only did you see to it that this sale would happen, but in less than 2 weeks time you made sure it would be a sale that would bring a community together, make visible one of the most charitable groups I have ever come in contact with and blow the top off our monetary goals.

DRUM ROLL PLEASE..........

Our current total (NOT including our Pay Pal donations) is:

$2, 749.96.

YOU raised $2, 749.96 in 6 hours. We don't know how to adequately thank you. We're not sure we ever will.

We are going to give Crissie $1000 to buy the bike or whatever her family needs (because this really was not about a bike). The rest of the money including the uncounted paypal donations will go to the Jason Wolfkiel Cancer Benefit Fund.

Tomorrow is the big day. We so hope to see you out at the FabuLESS Pay It Forward Garage Sale at 8am! But first, a few items of business to attend to:

They might accidentally disappear, but my sweet tooth cannot be held responsible!).

Because there is still so much to do and so little time, I am unable to send an adequate thank you to those who have contributed items or slaved away in the scorching heat, sorting, cleaning, and tagging items. You know who you are and we are forever grateful for your generosity. Our hearts are full!

Alright FAB readers, it is time to kick your generosity into high gear. Our FabuLESS Pay It Forward Garage Sale is rapidly approaching (but you all knew that since it is marked on your calendars, right? Right?) and we are still in need of your donations: your time, your awesome items to sell and your yummy treats for the bake sale. Go HERE for all of the info you need to help. Also note that a 5th drop-off location has been added in Caldwell.

TOMORROW IS THE LAST DAY TO DONATE ITEMS!! But you can still bring baked goods the morning of the sale and drop them off at the Five Mile Church of the Nazarene.

Volunteers are still needed for ALL shifts. And great news: BABYSITTING WILL BE PROVIDED THURSDAY AND FRIDAY MORNINGS!!! A break from your kiddos while you give to a GREAT cause. • Kuna - 11980 Dynamite Lane Anytime (Leave on driveway)
• Boise - 3312 Ithaca Ave Anytime (Leave on North driveway)
• Meridian - Better Life Chiropractic 1220 N Meridian Rd # A, Meridian, ID (click for business hours) (This location will not be able to take large items like furniture.)
• Caldwell - 700 Chance St. Caldwell 83605 This is a new address and can not be found on goolge maps. Head S on Cromwell off Airport Rd to find it.
• (Wednesday the 29th, 5pm is the drop off deadline)

We are looking for VOLUNTEERS!
We need a "FAB FIVE" for each "shift".

• Thursday 30th: 8am -12pm to organize, clean, and tag
• Friday 31st: 8am-12pm to organize, clean, and tag
• Saturday 6:00 am Trucks and muscles to load and transport to location
• Saturday 8am-2pm to help man the sale
• Saturday 2:00pm clean up and transporting (need trucks again)
