Watch our video to find out how we are figuring out
how many boxes of cereal to buy at
tomorrows Post Cereal Sale. Woot Woot FREE CEREAL!!!
Check out our most recent post all about Albertsons Post cereal scenarios!
Calculate boxes used per week:
Number of Cereal eaters: Monica 4 Cathy 8
x Number of days you eat cereal in a week: Monica 3 Cathy 6
x Number of times a day: Monica 1.5 Cathy 1
=
Your Serving per week Monica 18 Cathy 48 (Cathy rounded to 54 to compensate for her teenager)
DIVIDE by 6 servings in a box
= number of boxes used per week. Monica 3 Cathy 8
EXPIRES IN 9-10 months (40 WEEKS)
Number of boxes per week(Monica 3 Cathy 8)
times 40 = Monica 120 Cathy 360
- the number you have in your pantry already: Monica 20 Cathy 30
= Monica 100 Cathy 330
Divide this number by 2! Unless you want to only eat Post cereal for breakfast for the next 9 months! Monica 50 Cathy 165
Now you will just have to see if you have enough doubles and coupons for all that cereal. I only have enough for 20 so I will not be getting 50. Or maybe 36 to make an easy 6 transactions.
So there you have it! Remember that if the stock is low SAVE SOME FOR OTHERS!

You ladies are so awesome!! I will be sharing your fabulous post :-)
Can you tell I am addicted to your blog by all the comments I make?! This is a great video, you guys should do more!!
Will you be getting extra doublers?
Wow. That's a lot of cereal. I say that not in judgmental way at all; it's more of a "wow, no wonder you need to stock up on this stuff when it's super cheap! kind of awe. At $4-ish per box retail price, poor Cathy would be spending $1500 dollars a year just on cereal!
I have 5 coupons, so the most I'll buy is 10 boxes. And even that is pushing it. I bought 10 boxes of cereal in January when it was super cheap (Cap'N Crunch, Apple Jacks, and Fruit Loops) and I think we've emptied one. We could use some Honey Bunches of Oats and some Raisin Bran. Twenty boxes of cereal will probably last us a year.
Sophie - I do the same thing. I check this blog every day because it's so awesome, and feel like a leave a lot of comments. We need a forum!
Thanks for all the great info ladies! Your work maintaining this blog is so appreciated.

Oh No! Your video made me realize I did not get enough coupons. Oh well! You guys are great! Loved the video and Cathy don't feel bad about 360 boxes. I am in the same boat. I am just glad I am not the only person who gives cold cereal to their kids everyday.
Good grief that's a lot of cereal!:) It's hard to imagine what we actually go through when you sit down and calculate it out. Don't apologize for needing that many. You ladies work hard and share your info with us. You could just be doing all of this and keeping it to yourself.
I bought 40 coupons, and need roughly 80 boxes. How do you recommend getting enough doublers for all of these transactions?
I know its a long shot but if anyone ordered any extra coupons I would love to trade or something. I was only going to get about 12 boxes, so I didn't get any off ebay. I could meet you at any Albies in the Boise area. Thanks!
Whoa - so I saw in the comments on another blog that it works out to be cheaper to buy in increments of 4 (even with the $3 catalina). Only 34 cents a box!
Emilee,
I have some extra coupons that you have. I ordered the wrong ones the first time, so I have an extra 20 coupons for the kids cereal. When I ordered the ones for the Honey Bunches of Oats, the lady sent me 20 for regular and 20 for kids, so now I have 60 coupons. You can e-mail me at thoukie@cableone.net and we can set up a place to meet.
just did the math--julee is right. If you don't have doublers then buying them in sets of 4 is the cheapest (assuming you have ebay coupons). If you don't have coupons, then buying them in groups of five is the cheapest.
Awesome! Love the little videos, and it really helps! I personally like when all you bloggers do videos and photo posts of your recent buys; I think it helps the unbelieving folks turn into believers. Good job, and thank you for all you do to help others save some $$$.
So I have a store that freely gives tons of doublers AND I have 30 Post coupons. So did we all figure out that the best scenario is to buy 6 with 3 doublers at a time plus the post coupons?
KJ in Seattle, which Albertsons gives you extra doubles? Can you please share this?
I think I'm going to buy in sets of 4. I'll use 2 post coupons and one doubler for each transaction. The total will come to $3.36 +tax. After the $3 catalina (for buying 4 boxes) the total will be 36 cents + tax for each transaction!

That was very helpful, ladies! Too bad the selects aren't a part of the sale this year though... :O( Can't see us eating HBO's & RB only over the next couple months, so I'll hope for another good sale down the line, I'm sure one will be coming soon!!!
Thanks for all the work you do for us!!!
Thank you for all the nice comments! And thanks to some emails and great scenario idea comments, I did ANOTHER POST POST!!

I'm sad about not having Grape Nuts.
Honestly, we eat cereal past the expiration date all the time, and it's usually fine. I might not if it had nuts, but then again, I might. I think the box of Grape Nuts Trail Mix Crunch I'm working on right now expired over a year ago. It's fine. I stocked up way too much back in the days before I realized that my husband will NOT eat cereal. I know. It's crazy. He does eat cabbage, though!
Hmm, anyway, so if there aren't Grape Nuts in this sale, I probably don't need as many coupons as I have. I live in Eastern Idaho, but if anyone wants some extra Post coupons, I'd be happy to share.
Cathy, how on earth are you going to find enough doublers for 165 boxes?!?!?!
Buy your math it looks like I should of used my coupons instead of giving them away ;)
