I was just at Winco. I am new to couponing. The cashier would not let me use the $1.00 printable cheese coupon with the store coupon. She gave me quite a bit of attitude as she told me 'Only ONE coupon per product!" I don't understand - if they are going to be reimbursed for the printable coupon, isn't that just like I am paying the dollar myself? Since I am new to this, I didn't argue - I was embarrassed by the way she acted towards me.
Susie-
You are right a coupon is like cash and there is no reason she shouldn't take it. But Winco cashiers are not used to having store coupons, so stacking is not a concept they understand.
Asking for a manager may have helped, but sometimes it does not seem worth the hassle to save a buck.
Sorry you had trouble.
When I have coupon trouble at Winco, I simply go to Customer Service after they are done checking me out. Because of the way Winco is set up to just push shoppers through the check-out line, it can fluster the checkers if you slow down the process to try to discuss something. I have had good experiences talking to customer service, though. They can scan coupons that got missed (or rejected in the case of your cheese.) I had some printables that ended up sticking together and not being all scanned once and they fixed it right up. It can be a pain, but I've learned that couponing goes best when I do not try to rush.
I will say one really positive thing about Winco. They sure do know how to stock for a sale. When I was in the Meridian Winco they had all the sale items in stock -- on nice big displays as well as on the regular shelves. And they were doing a great job keeping the displays tended as well. I caught them filling the walnuts, and putting out poptarts and ragu all during my 30 minute visit.
