Three years ago I decided to start a preschool. I decided it was the perfect solution for me. I could still be home with my kidlets, while earning extra money. It has definitely been a blessing to our family, and something that I've enjoyed! It was perfect - just a couple hours a day, a few days a week. I could still do all the mommy things I had always done, and I didn't have to worry about the huge time/energy commitment of daycare.
One of the downfalls to starting out from scratch is that I had to do just that. And I didn't have anyone to coach me through it. So I bought A LOT of stuff as I tried to decide on curriculum I would use and the format of my day. In the end, I think I've only used about 25% of what I purchased. It really would have been nice to have someone just tell me exactly what to do to get started!
Well, now I have! One (local) mommy (and fellow Fabulessly Frugal reader), who is a preschool teacher herself, has a website with videos that teaches mommys (like you and me) how to start a preschool - in their very own home! I truly wish I had something like this when I got started three years ago! I think it would have saved me a LOT of MONEY and TIME!
If this is something you're thinking about doing, then you've got to go check out her website and sign up for the FREE 60-minute DVD that shares all her secrets!!

That is a great idea!! I do something similar but I'm mobile. I'm a private tutor and it's so nice to be able to make some extra cash on the side when hubby is home with the kids (not in daycare...phew). I'm gonna check that web site out...that's cool!
that really is a great idea. Just curious... her website looks a lot like a scam. You can vouch for her? Not to be picky... i'm just trying to be safe.
Hey Fifes - No worries! Although I've never *personally* met her, I have corresponded with her many times via email, and we have a mutual aquaintaince, whom I trust. She is a Kuna mom who runs a successful preschool, and set up this other company to show other moms how to get started. I haven't personally done the offer, because I'm 3 years into my own preschool, although I guess it wouldn't hurt to pick up a few extra tips, right!? :)
thanks. i'll have to try it out!
Hi everyone! Thanks so much Cathy for sharing this post about our preschool business with your readers.
Fifes, I would love to answer any of your questions (or any one else's questions) about starting a preschool. Feel free to personally email me at:
joy {at} startapreschool {dot} com
with any of your questions and I'll be happy to answer them.
I've helped hundreds of women start up their own preschools across America, and even a few in Meridian, but I really want to help more women in the Treasure Valley!
I look forward to hearing from you soon,
Joy Anderson Plaisance
I can personally vouch for Joy. I started my preschool this year with her help. She has everything from marketing to curriculum and was there to answer every question I had. I know her program has made me more profitable and a better teacher.
