My Walgreens Trip

Look what I made $4.81 buying! (Is it still considered buying if they are paying you?)
I have to admit, I had almost completely given up on Walgreens. I hadn't been there in months (yikes!). But the hubby needed razors and I needed lotion, so away I went. Here's how I did it:

Transaction #1
1 Vaseline Sheer Infusion Lotion 6.8 oz $6.99
-$1.50 from here

Total OOP $5.49 (plus tax)
Received a $7 Register Reward (RR)

Transaction #2
1 Herbal Essence Conditioner $2.99
1 Gillette Fusion MVP Manual Razor $8.99

1 seed packet (filler item) $.08
-$1 Herbal Essence Hair Care from 08/23-RP
-$4 Gillette Fusion Razor 9/27-P&G
-$7 RR from lotion

Total OOP .06
Received a $2 RR for Herbal Essence
Received a $6 RR for Gillette Razor

Transaction #3
1 Vaseline Sheer Infusion Lotion 6.8 oz $6.99
1 Gillette Fusion MVP Power Razor $8.99
2 seed packets (filler item) $.16
-$1.50 Vaseline Sheer Infusion Lotion from here
-$4 Gillette Fusion Razor 9/27-P&G
-$2 RR for Herbal Essence (ROLLING RR!!)
-$6 RR for Gillette Razor (ROLLING RR!!)

Total OOP $2.64
Received a $7 RR for Vaseline Sheer Infusion Lotion
Received a $6 RR for Gillette Razor

Total OOP for all 3 transactions was $8.19 and I walked away with $13 in RR, making it a $4.81 MONEY MAKER! Love it!

There is still time to do this scenario. Many Treasure Valley stores get shipments in on Friday or Saturday. Call around and find out which stores will have the hot items of the week and what time to expect them on the shelves, that way you aren't wasting a trip.

Also, refer back to Cathy's post for other ideas at Walgreens this week!

When you seperate your shopping into transactions, are you returning to the store 3 times, or do you gather all the items at once, then tell the cashier you need to make 3 seperate purchases?

I do all 3 transactions in the same trip if possible. In this scenario, I just got back in line after each transaction. Often when shopping at Walgreens you will have to make multiple trips if you are determined to get a certain item. I always call first to see if they have the items I am looking for in stock and then plan my shopping trip accordingly.

And I'm assuming then that they allow you to use the RR that you just receieved. Awesome!

Now my question is. . . do you do this at Albies too when they have their doublers? This could change the way I shop! :)

Jamie - she can use the RR she just received, but she uses it on a different RR deal so she will get another RR (see Walgreens 101 if this doesn't make sense).

And YES - at Albertsons we ALWAYS do 3 transactions in a row so we can use 3 sets of doublers, and/or so we can roll our catalina's. If it's a really hoppin sale, I'll take my stuff to my car, and come back in and do 3 more transactions!

Thanks for the help ladies. I've made LOTS of trips to Albies last week and wish I could have gone more. The reason is the doubles say you can use the 1, 2, 3 double coupons per trip. Maybe I'll just have to start going out to my car per purchase.

This multiple transaction thing works great for us in Idaho. I have heard though that in Utah they will not let you do multiple transactions. So YMMV if you are in another area. It is certainly worth a try!

Thanks for posting this! It is good to see how you roll those RR'S!

I just went to Walgreens did the 1sttransaction got the $7 RR for the lotion, did my 2nd transaction paid for that with coupons and RR from lotion and it didn't print the RR for the razor. The manager said because I used the $7 RR on it that I couldn't get the RR for the razor. ??

Are you sure you bought the MVP razor?

Amber said...

That is completely false! I would call the store manager right now and explain the situation. The only time the RR does not print is if you use it to purchase the same product. For instance, if you used the $7 RR to pay for another bottle of lotion, another $7 RR WOULD NOT print. But paying for the razor with the $7 RR from the lotion would not keep a new RR for the razor from printing.

Was it one of the 2 razors in the about picture? If not, that would be one possible explanation. Also, was it a local Walgreens?

It was a local Walgreens - Meridian Rd/Overland. I talked to the Store Mgr and that is what he told me. And it was one of the razors in the pic you have and in the ad. Not sure, it seems so frustrating to shop at Walgreen's most of the time. Also, they are now limiting all of these items to 1 per family per day.

Thanks for your help!
