Target Coupon Policy

I have heard and seen a lot about Target's policy being different from store to store. Here is their official policy.

Coupons are a great way to save even more when shopping with us, and it's easy to use them at our stores.

• Target accepts one manufacturer coupon and one Target coupon for the same item (unless prohibited)
• Super Target coupons can be used in any Target store if the store carries the item
• We gladly accept valid internet coupons

Because of the variety of coupons available to our guests, we do have some guidelines for how coupons can be redeemed at Target.

When accepting coupons, we use the following guidelines:

• We accept two kinds of coupons: Target-issued coupons and manufacturer-issued.
• We'll accept one Target coupon and one manufacturer coupon for the same item, unless either coupon prohibits it.
• Coupon amount may be reduced if it exceeds the value of the item after other discounts or coupons are applied.
• We can't give cash back if the face value of a coupon is greater than the purchase value of the item.
• We can't accept coupons from other retailers, or coupons for products not carried in our stores.
• All valid coupons should be presented to the cashier while you're checking out.

In an email from corporate posted by Deal Seeking Mom, they said: For questions about using a specific coupon, we encourage you to stop by Guest Service and ask to speak with the Guest Service Team Leader. They’ll do their best to help while you’re in the store. If you still have questions after speaking with them, please call our Guest Relations team at (800) 440-0680. Either way, we’re here to help!

If you're having trouble, take a copy of the policy with you. It clearly states that they will adjust a coupon down if it exceeds the value of the item. My Target is very friendly, but they have told me no a few times. In that case, I discuss with them the coupon the way I understand it. If they still say no, they just give my coupon back to me. Sometimes I say I don't want it then, and sometimes I buy it anyway.

I love shopping at Target, and I hope this policy will help some of you out!

Hey Ladies! I've been following your blog for about 8 months now. You are one of the reasons why I started my own frugal blog, except I'm done in Southeast Idaho. I've mentioned your website numerous times and I try to direct as many people as I can to your website. I also just wanted to let you know that I've nominated you wonderful ladies for a blog award. Check out my post

Thanks for all your hard work!

I emailed them tonight about the whole ordeal over the Crystal Light. Basically, I want to pin down an official definition of 'valid only on product(s) indicated'. To me, it seems silly that it has to be indicated by the picture and that they don't instead follow the verbiage. Clearly, they are not going to able to include every single variety of a particular product on the coupon, unless we're going to start hauling our coupon binders around in wheel barrows.

I went to the Nampa Target today to find the travel size games. Sorry, they're not where I said earlier on the original Target post. I have removed that comment. I couldn't find them so I asked and they have been moved. They are not with the toys. They are on an end cap where the luggage is! I never would have looked there! About 2 hours ago I was there and there were only 2 Hungry Hippos and 2 Perfection travel size games. But since they're not on sale, just watch for more since you can get them until the coupons expire.
