I went to Boise Target the other day to do the Dryers Ice Cream deal. I had my Target printables but was told that if I used my coupons I would not get my $5 gift card. I had to choose which one I wanted either the coupons or the gift card, not both. I did not end up doing the deal because it would have only been hald the deal it could have been. I am just wondering if anyone else has heard about this policy. I was told this by a manager.

I sure hope that's not the case! I haven't gotten over to Target yet to try the FiberOne cereal deal (I'm half afraid that by now, there won't be any cereal left!), but I'm hoping that doesn't happen.

As I recall, when the cashier scans in the items that complete a gift card deal, the register stops her/him to issue the gift card right then, so that's before any coupons are scanned. When you tried to use your Target printables, did they beep, and that's why the manager got involved?

I actuallly did not even get far enough into the transaction to have my coupons scanned. When the cashier saw that I had the coupons she called over the manager. So ALL of this took place before ANYTHING was ever scanned. I am interested to see if there are any problems with the FiberOne. It makes me hesitant to do any Target deals similar to this.

I did the Fiber One Deal yesterday and had no problem at all. I'm So Pretty is right, the register prompts the cashier to issue the gift card before your transaction is even totaled. I always get it right after they scan the last item in the deal and they scan the rest of my stuff. I would call corporate to report this. I hate when something like that happens, that is NOT their corporate policy!

As far as the Fiber One products being gone, I have noticed that usually Target will be out of the hot items in the first few days of a sale and then get more in by Friday. At least, at the Nampa Target that's usually the case.

Lindsay - That is a bummer you had that experience. In everything I've read, the Boise Target is the worst. I agree with AJ and would call corporate. Making you pick either coupons or gift card is the dumbest thing I've heard! They are REIMBURSED when manufacturer coupons are used! Hello Target!!

I have done these deals in the past, and never had a problem at the Nampa Target! I am sorry you had the trouble.. I probably would have let them put their items back and gone in again a different time or to a different cashier... ?

Success! Although I had a moment or two of nervousness. I found plenty of the FiberOne Raisin Bran, so I grabbed 5 boxes and took them to a register with a young woman cashier. However, even though most of the young women cashiers have scanned the coupons I've given them without questioning quantity or anything, this one was different. She scanned the 5 boxes of cereal and gave me the gift card. Then she scanned the 5 mfg Qs, but I accidentally had given her 6, so when I realized that, I said, "Oops, I must've given you one too many. Sorry." She looked at the 5 remaining Target Qs and said, "You gave me lots too many." So I explained that the Target Qs were okay and I'd just take back the one extra mfg Q. By then I apparently confused her completely. She said, "But you gave me too many coupons." I asked her to just try scanning them - I mean, if they scan, then what's the problem. But she grabbed a manager and basically tried to make it sound like I was putting one over on her.

He explained that Target coupons were fine with manufacturer's coupons, so she should scan them. PHEW! And when she did, they went through fine. Then she even apologized to me about it because she didn't know.

In retrospect, she learned the policy and I got the product just fine, so all's good. In fact, I may look for her now since I know she knows :)
