FABULESSLY FRUGAL FRIDAY: Free Summer Fun for the Kids!

Can you believe summer is JUST AROUND THE CORNER? Around these parts, the kids have less than 3 weeks until school is out! ARE YOU READY???

This post is all about FREE STUFF you can do with your kids this summer!!

A few weeks ago, Monica posted about what a wonderful resource the library is. Did you know they have a summer reading program? Kids complete daily reading and receive prizes along the way! Some of these prizes are free food! And free tickets! They also have a ton of FREE fun activities for your little ones (and bigger ones too!). Check out your local library's website. Here is the link to what MY library is doing this summer.

ALSO,

Barnes and Noble has a summer reading program too! After reading and journaling about 8 books, they will earn a FREE BOOK! I have a few avid readers in my home, so we'll be doing this for sure! Check out B&N for all the details!

AND why not take the kids to a free movie? Have you heard about the Regal Free Family Film Festival? It begins in my town on June 16th! Check out their site to see if there is a theater near you that is participating. You can view the movie schedule there as well!

OR - see if anyone in your town is participating in the KIDS BOWL FREE program! Kids get two free games of bowling per day... all summer long! Check out the site for FAQ's and participating locations (and be sure you register!!).

AND FOR MY LOCAL READERS:

Have you ever gone to Picnic-in-the-Park? (brought to you by the Idaho Food Bank and Boise School District). Free lunch for kids!

Also, there is the Movie Night in Meridian, which begins Friday June 6th. In it's 3rd year, this fun weekly event is held at Settlers Park in Meridian. BYOB (Bring your own blanket or chair), and come watch a family friendly film on a 25-by-14 inflatable screen. See this Idaho Statesman article for more details, movie schedule, and contact info.

And lastly, here is a great blog by Amanda appropriately titled, "Don't Get Bored In Idaho". She lists a bunch of activities you can do (mostly in SW Idaho), some are free, some are not, but you should bookmark this page for all the great resources she provides!

What other free activities do you know about in your town?
