FabuLESS Dining Q&A

$25 Gift Certificates for $5 or LESS!

There's a catch right?
Well kind of. When you redeem your certificate you have to have a bill that is at least $35 (some are now $50). So you buy the certificate for $2, you have to spend at least $35, then they take off $25 and add 18% gratuity based on the original bill. Total cost for you will be $18 including the original $2 (based on 80% discount) for the certificate. $35bill-$25gc=$10+$6tip+$2cert=$18

Have you guys actually done this?
Yes, I would not put it on here if we hadn't. I have redeemed certificates at Ono Hawaiian Cafe, and twice at Donnie Mac's Trailer Park. I have certificates waiting to spend at Asiago's and Cafe Vicino. I am not worried I have one year to use them! Cathy has purchased them as well. I think she chose Asiago's. Natricia has used them at Fiesta Gadalajara.

I have never heard of those restaurants, is this only for local readers?
No, When you get to the site you enter in your zip code to get restaurants local to you! I love it because it gives me an excuse to try and support local restaurants in my city (46 to choose from). If I was to go to Portland for the weekend I could buy one and try out their local digs.

I want to eat out tonight. Do I have to wait for the certificate to arrive in the mail?
No, you print it from your home computer. If you can't print right away they will email you the certificate.

If I have confused you with my math up there leave a comment and I will try to clarify!

I signed up for the discount club but didn't realize it charged till after!! And now I don't remember what company it is to cancel. Can anyone help?

Carly-
I had the same problem. I could not figure out how to cancel it online. A few weeks later they sent me a letter explaining the upcoming charges. I instantly got on the phone and canceled. No problems since. Look for that letter in the mail. I will look and see if I have it filed away and let you know if I find it!
ps did you get a cert to go back to Ono?

Fiesta Guadalajara is awesome! Not very busy at all - nice server and host, etc. The food was delicious - their carne asada was our favorite! We are buying more of their certificates this sale. Their prices are really great too we thought. (Plus, it's in the same parking lot as a cool Walgreens - Eagle/Chinden - so you can run over for deals after or before. I wouldn't suggest running over during, though. Your hubbie might not appreciate it! ha ha)

I would pass on Baja Taco. The server didn't write down our orders - mine was wrong, even after coming back to double check on the order a few times. They completely forgot my sister-in-law's order and she had to go ask for it when we realized it wasn't coming. The food was mediocre. But maybe it was just a bad night and you might have better luck!

What happens if you don't use the total gift certificate on your visit. For instance, if you have a $100 ?

I just learned about this from a friend. and I see Fiesta is on the list. It's my fav Mexican restaurant for sure. Sooooo good

So are the certificates good for 1 year?

Jacilynn-

This is what the site says about the $100 certificates.

"Valid with a minimum purchase of $200. 18% gratuity added to pre-discounted check amount. Excludes alcohol. Not valid with other offers."

The promo code offered here is only good on the $25 certificates.

They are good for 1 yr from the date of issue!

The promo code actually works on all the gift cards. I used it on $10 Fiesta Guadalajara certificates. They are only 80 cents with this promo.

We recently took a family vacation to Disneyland and these gift cards were a great way to save money!!! I just put in the zip code of our hotel. WE found an awesome place and they took our printed off gift card with no problems. Thanks so much for posting all these great deals.

Thanks Trish, that is great that you can use it on any of the money amounts!

Monica-
We went back to Ono the other day. Awesome food(we got everything this time!) but horrible service, again!! I think you just have to suffer with the service because the food is soooo good!!!!

FYI girls... the Taj Mahal on there is no longer. (That's that Indian Cuisine.) I emailed Restauarant.com about it today. My parents' store (Other Mothers) is in the same complex and my mom just told me that they packed up and dissapeared the other day. Looked a little creepy anyway.

So I was wondering about Ono Hawiian... I love Hawiian food, so it's good to hear that someone likes it! Who cares about the service if the food is delish! My mouth is watering just thinking about it. :)

What about Donnie Mac? Anyone? It kinda looks like a fun place to take the kids!

We like Cheerleaders. My kids (and husband) like the personal touch screens at the booth tables. When they first opened I was leary, wondering if it was another "Hooters" type of place. It's not. It's like the Ram.
